TSM Academy offers private instruction beginning with the establishment of essential guitar fundamentals, regardless of playing level. Both 30-minute and 60-minute sessions are offered depending on the student’s age. Strong emphasis is placed on thoroughly understanding the nature of the guitar in relation to itself and other instruments, with an ultimate goal of confident solo playing and seamless musical collaboration. A healthy blend of theoretical and practical application are woven together to ensure the student can fully grasp the vast array of genres a guitar encompasses (Classical, Jazz, Folk, Pop, Rock, etc.).
While appreciating the elemental construction of music, students will be guided through conventional music notation, chord charting, rhythm charting, tablature, and the important relationship between these forms of music reading on the guitar. Proper and ergonomic foundational techniques are set up early, whether the student chooses plectrum or finger style playing (or both!) and students will grow to appreciate the guitar’s extraordinary diversity in their pursuit of tone, expression, musical knowledge, and most of all…FUN!
