Tracey Steele Music Academy offers private and semi-private piano instruction. All lessons are 60 minutes in length. Lessons consist of both theory and practical. We put a strong emphasis on teaching our students how to read music well, so that they can play any genre of music (classical, jazz, contemporary, pop) independently. Students will develop ear training and learn the fundamentals of rhythm, proper hand positions and technique. Students will also be introduced to music history, the great composers and other musical artists, past and present.
We offer lessons throughout the year in 4 sessions:
- Fall (10 weeks)
- Winter (10 weeks)
- Spring (10 weeks)
- Summer (8 weeks)
Private Lessons:
Student receives individual instruction from the teacher and can advance at his/her own pace. Private lessons provide optimal progress in learning because teaching is one-on-one and the hour is not shared with a group of other students.
Semi Private Lessons:
Small groups of 3 to 5 students per teacher. The teaching of group lessons is facilitated by our state-of-the art piano teaching lab equipment. Each student in the group has use of an instrument and headphones, while the teacher can listen in and provide instruction to each student by way of a two-way communication system.
Royal Conservatory of Music:
Based in Toronto, Ontario, the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) is an internationally renowned music institution that allows students to follow its curriculum - remotely - by way of affiliated teachers, like Tracey Steele. We prepare students for RCM theory and practical exams. RCM is an optional course of study but several of our students enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of preparing exam material. Over the years, the RCM has consistently recognized Tracey Steele’s students with top honours and awards.
